This year for Maggie's 4th birthday we celebrated at the beach house again. It's such an easy place to throw a party and have room for kids to play. I tried to keep it a bit smaller this year and had just the kids around her age - still ended up being quite a fun crew. We are so thankful to have so many close friends with kids around our kids' age. The weather wasn't the best (problems we will always have with her October 14th birthday) but the rain held off through the party so the kids were able to bounce, play, eat pizza and break the pinata without getting soaked. Maggie wanted a princess cake, so of course I had to get complicated and make a large princess Barbie cake, along with 20 individual princess cakes for all the kids at the party. I actually love making the different cakes for the kids' parties and found making all the different dresses for each little princess cake a lot of fun.
Maggie at 4 is so much fun. She is learning to speak up for herself at school, is still the happiest kid around, loves dance class and her lion, and has become an amazing swimmer. When she grows up she wants to be a swim teacher. She has pretty much given up naps but will still lay down for "rest time" and read books or play with her animals in her bed. She has her own sense of humor, thinks dresses should be worn daily, and will always eat her broccoli to make mommy and daddy happy at dinner. When asked, she will tell you her favorite food is ice cream and that her brother is her best friend. She is, quite simply, wonderful. We are beyond blessed to have such a sweet, fun, silly, loving little lady.
